Good Morning Friends,

I promised to talk about repurposed pet food bags, so here they are. As you can see they are different sizes and shapes. I am quite pleased with them and can think of lots ways to put them to use. They are washable. I use a sanitizing cloth or soapy water and the garden hose if they are really bad. Pop cans get really sticky.

To make them, I open the bottom seam, turn inside out and sew the bottom closed with a 1/2 inch seam. Stitch twice for strength. This a good time to clean the inside with a multipurpose cleaner.  I then make a 4-5 inch gusset to create a rectangle bottom. Turn inside out again. Cut 4 inches off of the top, cut in half and fold into quarters lengthwise to make both of the handles. The handles are double stitched.  I fold the top over 1 inch, then again. Now make two rows of stitching with handles inserted into the top hem. Store bags with clorox cleaning sheet inside to keep fresh smelling.

I have an industrial sewing maching that makes the project easier , however, I have done it on my regular machine and it worked out just fine.

If you have questions making your bags, contact me.

Post how you use your bags so we will never have enough bags and can keep these bags out of the landfill!

Recycle bags, swim bag, garden refuse, shopping bags. Oh boy, now my mind is going crazy thinking of ways to use these little gems.

Have a wonderful day!
